What to expect

Recovery needs differ by procedure and stage of healing. Tara discusses your situation and postoperative instructions to determine appropriate bodywork, positioning, and pressure.

Who it may suit

People recovering from surgery who are ready for bodywork under their surgical team’s guidance may consider a session. The type of procedure and any restrictions should be discussed before booking.

Potential benefits

  • Potential short-term relief of tension and discomfort.
  • A calming, supportive experience during recovery.
  • Care adapted to positioning and comfort needs.

Your comfort comes first

Follow your surgical team’s instructions. Bodywork complements your recovery plan and does not replace follow-up care, wound care, or prescribed rehabilitation.

Research spotlight

Massage after cardiac surgery

A randomized pilot study involving 58 cardiac-surgery patients found lower pain, anxiety, and tension following a 20-minute massage compared with standard care plus quiet rest.

This hospital study was small and procedure-specific. A larger cardiac-surgery trial found no corresponding benefit, so results are mixed.
